Once part of the original village forge, Wheelwrights Cottage is a cosy, character-filled retreat for two, with room for a toddler or baby to join the adventure. Tucked away in a peaceful setting, it’s the perfect escape for couples or young families looking for comfort, charm, and countryside walks right from the door.

The cottage is dog-friendly, so your four-legged companion can enjoy the break too. Wander along the scenic footpaths that start just outside the gate, then return to relax in your own private, enclosed courtyard — ideal for lazy breakfasts in the sun or stargazing in the evening.

Inside, a crackling wood burner sets the scene for snug nights in, while the thoughtful mix of original features and modern comforts makes Wheelwrights Cottage a welcoming home-from-home. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway or a longer stay, you’ll find the perfect blend of privacy, warmth, and Dorset charm.

What People Are Saying

“So much more than what is advertised. A beautiful, friendly and welcoming B&B. We were very comfortable and well rested. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and the decor is lovely. Thank you for a lovely stay.”

“Sophie and her family bent over backwards to help with our needs. They were brilliant. I loved our room, it was beautifully done with a touch of quirkiness which is perfect for me.”

“A very comfortable and friendly place in a lovely location. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Old Forge. Our room - and indeed the whole place - is full of history and character and is the height of good taste. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were nice little touches in the room such as a mini fridge with water & milk, a vast array of tea bags, pretty china and very nice - & ethical - toiletries in the en suite. The breakfasts were very tasty, freshly cooked and were both locally sourced and of great quality. Even the yoghurt was made at a local farm. Sophie was a very friendly and helpful host and made our stay very pleasant. It is in a very lovely location and I only regret we didn’t have time to explore it further.”
