Introduction to the Old Forge Bed and Breakfast

Bed and Breakfast Accomodation

For our Bed and Breakfast accommodation, we have three rooms:

The Green Room

This is a spacious lofty family room to sleep 2 to 3. It has a lovely old antique double bed and a Dutch pine sleigh single bed. There is an en-suite shower and loo to this room.

"The bed in the Green Room is so comfortable we would like to take it home with us!"

Mr and Mrs Pugh

The Blue Room

This is a pretty cottage bedroom under the eaves with a pine double bed. There is a private bathroom just adjacent.

The Pink Room

This is a charming single bedroom with a pine single bed. There is a private bathroom just adjacent. N.B. As these two rooms share the same bathroom we do not let them out at the same time unless it is to one family, i.e.; a private bathroom is assured

Visitors are welcome to use the dining/sitting room with Log burning stove, board games, local maps and guidebooks. The Old Forge is a non-smoking household.

Please guarantee your booking with written confirmation and a deposit of £25 per room per night payable to The Old Forge. Prices include a farmhouse or continental breakfast consisting of local sausage and bacon, free range eggs from our own hens, home made marmalade, local honey, and apple juice from our orchard. All our ingredients are sourced locally and are either organic or free range.

We are delighted to win the Bronze Taste of The West Award 2006 and 2008 The judge was clearly very impressed with the visit, providing good marks throughout the judging report, particularly in the following areas:

1. The quality and freshness of ingredients used
2. How well the meal was cooked
3. The quality and speed of service
4. Knowledge of staff
5. Commitment to local sourcing

The judge appreciated the availability of Moore's biscuits and commented on the extent of information provided about supplies on the menu. With regard to the fruit juice the judge wrote the following:

"The apple juice (with elderflower) was from their orchard and hedgerows and was the best apple juice I have drunk. It was superb."

In summarising the visit, the judge commented that the hosts were warm and welcoming and the knowledge and enthusiasm for local produce was clear.
